Cyberlox

Cyberlox are a popular hair extension frequently found in the electro, industrial and cyber scene. They made their first appearance at a alt runway show in the UK back in 2001, when model Kate Dressekie (founder of the Gobbolino goth fashion brand) wore two pairs during the show. This is the first documented public appearance of what would later become a must-have among electro-lovers of all kinds.

During an interview after said runway show, Kate Dressekie coined the term "cyber locks" to describe her synthetic hair extensions, locks because they looked like regular locks, and cyber because they had an undeniable futuristic flair. Over the years both words have been contracted, and cyber locks became cyberlocks, then cyberlox, the worldwide acknowledged term when referring to this type of item.

This is not to be confused with cyber dreads, which are generally made of wool, instead of the trademark plastic ribbons used for cyberlox.
