Artist presentation : November7
November-7 are one of the new contenders for the throne of female vocal fronted metal with gothic influence, and have a good shot at taking the crown. In a genre overrun by clones, the original compositions, freshness and live energy make them a rightful heir of the great few bands that pionneered this blend of music.
The early days
November-7 is a Swiss metal band from the area of Neuchâtel, where it was founded in 2005 by current lead guitarist Stéphane Geiser and singer Annamaria Cozza. Cozza and Geiser, who were collaborating on song ideas in a small studio beneath the local drum shop, were approached by the store owner, Gil Reber, seduced by the musical output both masterminds came up with.
This initial approach led to Reber joining the line-up and filling the vacant drum seat for the next years (2006 – 2008). This newly formed trio then proceeded to record their first EP, Mesmerized in 2006, and the same year, expanded their line-up by a second guitarist, Yann Berger.
Rise to success
From there on the band has constantly risen to greater international recognition, starting with the release of their 2007 EP Angel and their first homonymous vide clip, widely acknowledged by media all over Europe and even overseas. Specialized press, radios and TV stations in Germany, Switzerland, France and the US gave them much deserved exposure, reaching broader audiences all over the globe.
The songs Angel and Parasite were featured on the samplers of reputable magazines like Hard Rock Mag (France, Belgium, Canada), Metal Edge Magazine (USA) or Synthetics Mag (Germany, Austria). The video clip Angel was broadcast in heavy rotation on all major national TV stations (TSR1, SF2, TVM3) in their homecountry of Switzerland.
Born to perform
The success of this band is no wonder, it is the result of hard work and relentless touring, earning themselves an outstanding live reputation, the trademark of any great rock or metal band. The essence of this band is their powerful live prowess, which was brilliantly captured on DVD for the live CD and DVD package Alive!, a real gem of a live recording. Clear, brilliant and pristine sound combined with flawless visuals.
This recording is also a sort of legacy of Gil Reber, the bands original drummer, who quit and was replaced by Yann Siegenthaler. The band is currently working on their first full length studio album, with currently 5 new songs finalized, and an expected release date beginning 2010.
It’s electric – the live testimony
This album was recorded live on April 30th 2008, at the ice rink in Neuchatel, Switzerland, and is available as digipack in all record stores.
